Chimney Fire in Hopton

Shropshire Fire and Rescue ServiceAccording to the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service’s website, Hodnet Fire Crew were called out early yesterday morning (25/12/17) to a chimney fire in Hopley.
Just after 08:15am the service received a call reporting a chimney fire in Hodnet and the local appliance was despatched.
Upon arrival the crew used a hearth kit, stirrup pump and thermal image camera to tackle the fire.
The stop message was received by Fire Control at 09:27am.

On a companion page SCC have announced that all 43 GP practices in its area will be closed on each of the Bank Holidays. It advises anyone who is in need urgent medical attention, that cannot wait until your practice re-opens to:

  • Go to the Urgent Care Centre, based alongside the A&E at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. It is open 8am t0 8pm, every day. No appointment is necessary:
  • For GP out of hours care – call Shropdoc on 0333 222 6655.

 

Winter Weather Waste and Recycling Collections

Shropshire NewsroomShropshire Council have this morning (11/12/17) issued advice about waste and recycling collections in the present snow affected conditions. The information, which was posted on the Shropshire Newsroom website, states:

If we’re unable to collect your waste due to the bad weather, please:

  1. Bring your recycling boxes and  blue bag back in (as they can be a trip hazard) and put them out again on your next scheduled collection day.
  2. Leave your bins out. If we can’t get to you we’ll come back and empty your bins as soon as it is safe to do so. Any additional bags of side waste will be taken when we collect.

Schools CLOSED Across Shropshire – Mon 11 Dec 2017

Shropshire Council LogoAccording to information posted on Shropshire Council’s School Closures page this afternoon (10/12/17) Hodnet School and The Grove in Market Drayton will both be closed tomorrow. The information about these two schools was updated around 7.00pm this evening.
A note on the home page of Hodnet School’s website reads:

We will be closed tomorrow (Monday 11th December) due to the adverse weather conditions and in the interests of safety for all children, parents and staff. Thank you for your cooperation.

The following pages provide information on all State Schools in Shropshire, though at the time of writing the closures seem to be as much of a blanket as the snow which is lying several inches (or should that be centimetres) thick across the county. Wood Lane Roadworks – 6 to 12 Dec 2017

Roadworks SignRoadworks.org has today (4/12/17) announced work by BT on Wood Lane, Wollerton. The work is scheduled to start on Wednesday this week and last for a week.
