Breast Screening

Hodnet Medical Practice has this week posted the following information on its website.

All women in the UK aged between 50 and 70 are routinely invited every three years to have a test to detect early breast cancer. The mobile X-ray unit is based at Market Drayton Primary Care Centre. Ladies registered at Hodnet Medical Centre  who are eligible for breast screening will receive invitations to attend sometime in the month of May. The earlier breast cancer is detected, the better the chance of a cure. The breast screening test is called mammography which is a specialised X-ray of your breasts. If you are over 70, you are still entitled to breast screening on the NHS every three years but you will not be sent a routine appointment – you will need to make your own appointment by contacting the Breast Screening Office on 01743 261080.

More information about breast screening can be found here on the NHS website.

21 walkers and 3 dogs enjoyed a couple of hours’ fresh air and exercise on Sunday afternoon (3/4/16), on a walk organised by the Hodnet Footpath Group. They went from the Lyon Hall car park up Hearne Lane and over the fields to Long Lane, back down to the old A53 then across to the animal pound at Wollerton. From there one group took a detour to visit the Wetlands, and others went straight back to Hodnet along the old railway line.
