Health Advice over Christmas and New Year Bank Holidays 2018/19

NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group has published details on its website of where and when residents can obtain health advice over the coming holiday period. Full details are available on the page, in summary areas covered are:
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Call 111 for urgent medical advice but not emergency care.
GP surgeries in Shropshire will be closed on three Bank Holidays. However, GP extended access will provide registered patients with access to a limited number of routine GP appointments on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. These appointments require booking in advance through your own GP practice during their normal opening hours.
Pharmacies may have limited opening hours between Christmas and New Year so people are advised to order and collect repeat prescription in plenty of time. Shropshire pharmacies open on a rota basis on the Bank Holidays; a full list can be downloaded as PDF.

Walk In Centre (Urgent Care), Royal Shrewsbury Hospital will be open every day from 8am to 8pm including the bank holidays for anyone who needs urgent medical attention if they cannot get an appointment with their own doctor or are not registered with a GP practice. No appointment is necessary.
Accident and Emergency at your local hospital should not be used unless it is for critical or life threatening illness or injury.
