Hodnet Housing Development – Further Consultation Event

Strutt & Parker have contacted the Hodnet web-team with details of a further Consultation Event to consider revised proposals for the potential housing development to the rear of Shrewsbury Street.
The Event will take place between 6.00 and 8.00pm on Thursday 11th July at the Lyon Hall.
We have been sent an electronic version of their publicity poster. It states:

Taking on board comments received during the May consultation we have made amendments to the scheme and would like to hear local people’s opinion on the changes.
We therefore invite residents to join us for another consultation event to be held between 6.00pm and 8.00pm on Thursday 11th July at Lyon Hall, Hodnet.

Should we receive any further information about the changes to the proposals before the meeting, we will post them on the website.
In a separate development, Shropshire Council have announced here that on Wednesday 26th June the Cabinet would be considering “final recommendations for potential sites for new housing and employment land”. The Site Allocations and Management of Development Plan (SAMDev plan) proposes that there should be a third phase of public consultation beginning on 1 July. Providing it was approved at the meeting, the strategy will go out to public consultation from 1 July to 31 August 2013 with a view to approval by Cabinet of a final version of the plan by the end of 2013.
Again the web-team will post information about this consultation once we have them. In the meantime anyone wanting to more information on SAMDev should follow the links to the Cabinet papers and SAMDev section of the council’s website provided at the bottom of the page link above.

Hodnet Housing Development – Community Consultation

The webteam have been contacted by Strutt & Parker, the agents for the proposed housing development on land off Abbots Way, asking us to advertise a further community consultation event. This to be held on:
Tuesday 14th May 2013 t the Lyon Hall, between 6.00 and 8.00pm.
The poster (available here) states:

We want local people to have a voice in reshaping the design proposals for the site and therefore invite residents to join us for an interactive event to explore different ideas.

No further details were originally provided (see below for an update). However, the Parish Council are under the impression that there will be no plans/drawings available on the evening, but the intention is to highlight the constraints of the site. These include the fact that the opening has to be off Station Road and that there are drainage problems on part of the site. They have also been told that there will be a series of interactive workshops during the evening to ascertain how the general public would like the development to look. Exactly how these will be conducted has not been explained at present.
Update: On Monday, 29th April we were provided with the following outline of the evening:

The aim of the event is to stimulate positive design ideas and gain a deeper understanding of issues. We were thinking the best way to do this is as people come into the event they are placed into small groups where a team member will talk them through the site including its constraints, then moving onto an informal brainstorming of design ideas and potential concerns.

Contact details for Strutt & Parker are: Tel. 01244-354888 email website
If you have views on this matter please make every effort to be present on the evening.

Shropshire Potato Day 2013

A local company, Jalving Potatoes UK Ltd, which is based in Great Bolas is organising Shropshire’s first Potato Day on Sunday 3rd March. The event, which is to held at Harper Adams University, is aimed at providing real choice from a great selection of seed potatoes and is hoping to attract dedicated gardeners, allotment growers and potato enthusiasts.

Following the example set by the very successful Hampshire Potato Day this event will feature over 100 different varieties of seed potatoes. Find out more on the Shropshire Potato Day website.
General access to the event is from 12 noon-3pm, however early bird pre-registered access is available from 10am. There will be a £1 charge on the door, which covers the cost of the facilities but also includes a free catalogue. Early bird registration is available through the website.
