Palm Sunday Service with a Difference

Palm Sunday this year is the 29th of March and St. Luke’s Church, Hodnet is trying something different!
Bob Wiltshire, the interim vicar, says:

This year we are opening up the church to the whole community with a worship service with a difference.
Starting at at 2:00pm there will be craft tables so everyone can make their own palm crosses or an Easter garden. Also there will be lots of other activities for children and young people to get involved in.
If you can play an instrument, even badly, there will also be a music workshop led by the Retrospectives group. What comes out of that workshop will be the music for our short act of worship.
I do hope that you can make it even if you do not normally come to church. You never know they might enjoy it.

Dementia Community Roadshow

Shropshire NewsroomLast Friday Shropshire Newsroom announced a series of Dementia Community Roadshows across the county on several days this week. Full details can be found here.
The roadshows, which are being organised by Shropshire’s Alzheimer’s Society, aim to raise awareness of dementia in  local communities, to support people to get a diagnosis and to help them gain access to help and support, including health and financial benefits.
The nearest venue to Hodnet is in Market Drayton on Wednesday, 18 February from 10.00am to 4.00pm in Morrisons, Maer Lane.
The event will be hosted by local support workers and volunteers who will be on hand to signpost people with dementia and their carers to essential local services, and bring people concerned about their memory, or that of a loved one, a step closer to achieving a diagnosis.
For more information about the event, contact the Alzheimer’s Society in Shropshire on 01743 341800.

Help the Footpath Group

On 19th Feb, at 7.30pm, our group will be meeting at The Bear Inn, Hodnet.
We’ve been running for 5 yrs now; during which time we’ve received good feedback on our local walk leaflets and improvements we’ve made to some local paths – but to keep it up we need help.
If you like walking, maybe just exercising the dog rather than epic hikes, then please consider coming along and joining our small, friendly and mixed group of like-minded people.
You can ‘join’ our group in full (attend meetings and help as much or as little as you like/feel able) or as a ‘friend’ (simply be e-mailed information on our group walks). Either way, there’s no fuss in doing so and ‘membership’ is free.
