Hodnet to get High-Speed Broadband by end of 2015

ConnectingShropshireShropshire Newsroom has announced the Connecting Shropshire programme for next year. In a post a few days ago they highlighted plans to provide fibre broadband to 13 new exchange areas one of which is Hodnet.
The Connecting Shropshire programme is a partnership between Shropshire Council, BT and Broadband Delivery UK. It says its aim for next year is to make the sophisticated technology available to around 7,500 homes and businesses in: Bishops Castle, Bromfield, Calverhall, Cressage, Ditton Priors, Dudleston Heath, Ellesmere, Hodnet, Knockin, Munslow, Norton, Seifton and Worfield.
Shropshire Newsroom also highlights the launch of a new on-line map and easy-to-use line checker on the Connecting Shropshire website. It enables residents to find out the availability of fibre broadband in their area. The map can be found here on the Connecting Shropshire website.

Hodnet and District Garden Club September 2014

Hodnet & District Garden ClubOur first meeting in the Lyon Hall since the summer takes place on Tuesday 16th September at 7:30pm.
Our speaker is Mike Powis, who will give a talk and demonstration about Bonsai. Literally translated, this word means “plant in a tray”. It is usually defined as the art of miniaturising trees.
The techniques used to control the growth of trees are centuries old and are known to have been used by the Romans. The Chinese used the techniques for producing artistic pot plants, but it was the Japanese who formalised the art as it is known today. Mike will be telling us about the different trees which can be used and the effects that can be achieved.
Visitors are most welcome to come along to this talk and partake in a cup of tea and biscuit afterwards. Entry fee for guests is £2.00 per person. Alternatively, why not join our club? It’s only £12 for a whole year. We meet every month on the third Tuesday.
